“Excellent B&B.”01January2012.Middleton, United Kingdom.
.
Stayed at the Augusta lodge for a wedding in Westport. Dave, the owner, was very helpful and even gave us a lift to the wedding. He also helped with advice on places to eat and which pubs to go to, which was very useful. Room was great and bed was huge. Breakfast was great and checkout time of 11.30am is very civilised! All round, excellent stay and excellent value. We will be back to explore this part of Ireland properly and will stay again.

“Thanks.”04December2011. Berlin, Germany.

Our room has been the best on our trip through Ireland. It was very clean, big, quiet, very comfy beds, a very nice atmosphere in the B&B, very friendly and helpful owners and not to forget the good breakfast. I would def recommend this place to others. Thanks and sorry again for our really late check-in!

Perfect for the golfer who wants to play everyday. Plenty of courses to play and Dave will help you to choose the one you wish to play. Rooms were perfect.

“Great B&B.”28November2011.Ireland.22 Reviews.

Stayed here recently for the Sea 2 Summit adventure race. A great clean, cosy B&B in a great location. Can walk into town in about ten minutes. Resonable rates and nice porridge breakfast made for us for the race.

“Excellent lodging in Westport, Ireland.”28November2011.California, USA.6 Reviews.

The Augusta Lodge, located near the heart of Westport (in a quiet, tree filled neighborhood), provides very comfortable, clean & reasonably priced accommodations…especially for the GOLF oriented traveler. Dave O’Regan is the proprietor and genial host, as well as capable Irish Breakfast Cook. Dave is also a talented golfer, with vast knowledge about Ireland’s beautiful linksland courses. He not only confirmed many of our choices (LaHinch, Enniscrone, Waterville particularly…as well as, gave playing tips), but suggested/described numerous other, mostly northern/less known Irish golfing shrines. We stayed 3 nights and discovered some of the charm and pleasure so abundant in town (i.e. Bridge Street, High Street…great pubs, specialty stores & quite scenic…The Wyatt Hotel looks like a good place to stay, too, and they have an excellent restaurant). By the way a couple of Dave’s favorite courses are Rosses Point and Ballyliffin, which I intend to play on my next visit to Ireland. Be sure to read “Links of Heaven” by Phinney & Whitley as preparation for a golf trip to Ireland…Tom Coyne’s book is very helpful, as well. In any case, I’d definitely return to The Augusta Lodge! (Thanks Dave).

“A class above the rest.”21November2011.Perth, Australia.4 Reviews.

Every couple of years I visit the West of Ireland and stay in the many B&B’s on offer. In October of this year, on the advice of a fellow Aussie, I stayed in Augusta Lodge. I was greeted by the very affable owner, Dave, who was a mine of information about local entertainment, tourist spots etc. I was immediately offered a ‘cuppa’ and a sandwich (gratis) after my long drive from Dublin airport. After my welcome I was shown to my room which I found to be spacious, spotless and very well presented. The ensuite was immaculate with all possible toiletries provided. Breakfast was awesome! I was just about able to manage the huge helpings that comprised the full Irish breakfast. The staff were very sociable and again very informative. After breakfast, Dave, without being intrusive, assisted me with planning out my day in Westport–climbing Croagh Patrick, a Guinness in Cambells and music at Molloys. I was due to head south to Leenane next day but extended my stay at Augusta Lodge for two days (after a bit of hospitable room shuffling by the owner). The rates were very reasonable, the interaction with the owner and staff a bonus! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Augusta Lodge (I hate golf, by the way) and will definitely be returning there on my next visit to beautiful Westport.

“The Best.”16November2011.Florida, USA.

We arrived at Augusta Lodge and were warmly greeted. Our room was changed to an available king – rather than the two doubles. Staff were friendly and available to answer questions without taking over your holiday. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was outstanding and we could go all day till our evening “pints”. Wished we had more time to play a round of golf but the put put out front allowed us to get pictures with golf clubs in hand and that was a lot of fun. Hope to go back to Ireland some day and the Agusta Lodge would be my first choice and we would stay longer. Also a great value.

“Such a nice place to stay.”15November2011.Frankfurt, Germany.3 Reviews.

Lovely B&B, cozy accomondation to stay. Not just for golf-lovers!

“Heart of Gold.”14November2011.Switzerland.

The augusta lodge is a nice place to stay. With a good ambiance and in a quiet area. And Dave (the owner) has a heart of gold!

“Lovely venue and great value.”14November2011. Ireland.

A lovely home with the highest of standards giving a very pleasent atmosphere. Proprietor was very accomadating & all reasonable requests were entertained.

“Affordable comfort in homely surroundings with very helpful hosts.”9November2011.Dublin.

We stayed for 3 nights in this very homely accommodation at the end of October. The Augusta Lodge is located in peaceful surroundings, yet close enough to walk to the centre of Westport. There was a very good choice of breakfasts available. The room was very clean and comfortable and the hosts couldn’t do enough for you. Westport is an ideal location for touring around the West of Ireland. We would definately return to this bed and breakfast in the future.

“Best B&B we had in 7 days.”24October2011. Niederrohrdorf.2 Reviews.

This is the best B&B ever found in Ireland! Lovely house from the outside to the inside. Warm welcome from the son, lovely chat with Dave, very nice room, it was warm (which is not really a matter of course in Ireland when one is used to heated rooms…). The breakfast was delicious and the nice lass who served it was really very attentive and fast. If you have the chance to get a room: take it!!

“Very hospitable accommodation.”21October2011. Dublin, Ireland.

We got a very warm welcome from Stephanie & Dave, and a great cooked breakfast. Bedroom was first class – very clean & comfortable. TV reception not the best, but who needs TV when away in a lovely place like this!

“Wonderful Place.”19October2011.St.Louis, USA. 3 Reviews.

We stayed in this beautiful B & B Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, 2011. We found Stephanie and Dave to be very welcoming. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast was delicious! We would certainly reccomend this B & B to our friends and would plan on staying there again.

“GREAT ACCOMMODATION–HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.”19October2011.Mayo, Ireland.

Three of us stayed last weekend and received a very friendly welcome and were shown to room 8 – large family room with 1 double and 3 single beds, lovely fluffy towels and the place was spotless. Later that evening when we were heading out Dave suggested a walk for us to clear heads after busy week workwise – also gave us a name of friendly taxi guy who brought us to town – less than 5 mins away. Thanks Dave and we will certainly be back to use the putting green!!!! I have put a link on facebook for our golf members in Ballyhaunis. Thanks again.

“GREAT B&B.”26September2011.Ohio.31 Reviews.

We were welcomed and helped to our room. Room was clean and large. Bathroom was clean, the shower a little tight. We asked for dinner recommendatios that were excellent. Breakfast was served fast and cooked to order. Parking was on site and free. We enjoyed our stay.

“A great experience.”24September2011.Winnipeg, Canada.2 Reviews.

We recently spent four nights at Augusta Lodge, and think it was one of the nicest accommodations during our 3 week trip to Ireland. The hosts understand the meaning of hospitality and are genuinely concerned with the well being of their guests. Breakfast were prompt, plentiful and delicious. A great place to use as a base for exploring County Mayo. Dave, thank you again for the invaluable tips and advice.

“Could’t have asked for more.”21September2011.Dublin, Ireland.

We had a very happy stay at Augusta Lodge. The room was great, staff were friendly, everything was clean and they even catered well for me as a vegan! I’d highly recommend it.

“Had a great break, would definitely recommend!”21September2011. United Kingdom.

My wife and I had a very relaxing and enjoyable 5 nights stay at the Augusta Lodge.
Dave and Stephanie were the perfect hosts and cooked a ‘mean breakfast’ that kept you going til late afternoon. Dave had a wealth of local knowledge and was full of suggestions of places to visit that were not in the tourist book. The Guest House is ideally situated for access to great walks along sandy beaches and across the hills in the area, particulary north to Achill and south through Co. Mayo. The secure parking and short walk into the town was a big plus and enabled us to partake of the local evening entertainment. Would definitely recommend a stay.

“Great Stay. Definitely recommend.”17September2011.Nashville, USA. 27 Reviews.

My wife and I recently stayed here and really enjoyed it. The owners were terrific. We had a nice double bed room that actually had a twin and single bed located in the same room. The room was spacious. The B&B is very nicely decorated. Breakfast was very good. The B&B is located a solid 10 minutes walk north of the city center. Nearly all of the walk is on a sidewalk. There is a short 20 meter or so stretch that isn’t. The owner made some good recommendations for food and music (Matt Maloy’s Bar is great but can be crowded) that we both followed and enjoyed. One very minor negative is that the wi-fi didn’t reach our room (#7) but it works great downstairs in the Guest Lounge.
.
“Fantastic place run by a fantastic couple.”06September2011. Iowa.

Location is most convenient, especially for those not afraid of short walks! House very confortable and clean; service excellent. Owners were most helpful and engaging. Food was wholesome and more than ample for those with a taste for a good Irish breakfast! Kids – all ages – enjoyed the putting green out front! Westport remains a fine location for holidays, scenery and activities.
.
“We enjoyed it very much. Would definitely return. Definitely recommend.”05September2011. New Jersey, USA.

Very clean and neat accommodations. Unique theme based on the Augusta National Golf Course in the US. Any golfers will greatly enjoy the golf memoribilia in the sitting room, including some from the Masters. Short ride to the center of Westport which was lovely town. Proprietors are extremely nice and helpful with tips for tourists on restaurants and sights. Golfers should talk to Dave. He can steer you to the couses that will give you the best bang for the buck.
.
“Fantastic Accommodation. Hospitality First Class.”05September2011.Dublin, Ireland.

Evelyn and I, Sons and Partners had a wonderful stay at Agusta Lodge. Just five maybe six minutes walk to the centre of Wesport. Our sons living in London ( not children I may add, in there twenties) are planning a return trip already. Breakfast was a true Full Irish breakfast, delicious. We all enjoyed the putting competition and the Augusta Lodge golf cap has pride of place in the house. Looking forward to our return trip.

“A very pleasant stay with helpful advice.”23August2011.New Hampshire, USA.3 Reviews.

We stayed two nights at Augusta Lodge in a family room that was comfortably spacious for our family of four (could have fit five). Breakfast was delicious, and Dave  gave us excellent advice on places to eat in Westport and a more scenic route to our next destination. We would be happy to stay there again if we were traveling in the Westport area.
.
“Very pleasant and relaxing.”18August2011. Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom.3 Reviews.

We stayed here in August 2010 (sorry for the late review). The owners were very friendly, the place was very clean, and the breakfast was good. The room wasn’t huge but was big enough. The guest house is a 10 minute walk out of the town centre and there is a steep hill to climb both ways but you could always get a taxi if you didn’t want the exercise. Westport itself is a really nice place – especially the pubs – and has lots of good restaurants.

“We enjoyed ourselves very much.” 16August2011. Luton, United Kingdom.

We had a very comfortable and relaxed stay at the Augusta Lodge Guesthouse. The rooms were very clean and Dave was always very obliging and helpful. The breakfast was always excellent and plenty of it with several choices. I would not hesitate in recomending this bed & breakfast to any of my friends if they visit Westport.
.
“Perfect, even if you don’t play golf.” 15August2011. Dublin, Ireland.

We had a very pleasant stay here in Augusta Lodge. The purpose of our trip was to climb Croagh Patrick, which we did. When we arrived we were guided personally (on the phone) through Westport. This was extremely helpful after a long drive and a day in work. Nothing was too much trouble- our flasks were filled with coffee for our climb, restaurants were recommended, as were things to do to break up our drive home, (the garden centre was closed unfortunately- we were too early). We would definitely recommend a trip here, whether to play golf or walk the Western Way, this B and B is in a perfect location. Everyone is friendly, the rooms are beautiful and Westport is a tiny walk away.

“Very pleasant stay in comfortable surroundings.” 12August2011. Dublin, Ireland.

Stayed in Augusta Lodge for two nights recently. The stay was very pleasant and in very comfortable surroundings. Room was clean, fresh and welcoming as were the hosts. Weather was unfortunately not great but heating was provided which was unexpected but very much appreciated as outside air felt a little cold and damp. Access to Westport was a quick ten minute walk which make the Lodge very well located. Our hosts were going into town on one of the nights and kindly offered to give us a lift – once again much appreciated. Overall we were very happy with Augusta Lodge and would be happy to return.
“Excellent B&B, a lovely spot right beside the Great Western Greenway cycle track.”11August2011. Dublin, Ireland. 3 Reviews.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Stephanie and David were great hosts and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere in their fine home. We were in Room 1, a double, which had patio doors leading out to the back yard car park-this was handy for nipping in and out to the car, and it was like having our own private entrance when we got home late at night.(Not that this was much needed- at this place, it seems like their place is yours when youre staying). There was a downstairs lounge area available for chilling out in and plenty of information available about local places to eat. Stephanie and David were also good for filling us in on the best places to eat /go-they were extremely helpful and always available. The B&B is a 10 minute max walk to the town centre- all downhill. When we were out late, we got taxis back for a very low fare-but, the walk home, I’m sure, would be pleasant too. We were served a lovely full irish breakfast and there was a nice selection of herbal teas/juices/fruits etc available (homemade smoothies highly recommended!) Our room was spacious with tea/coffee making facilities,TV, radio & plenty of wardrobe space, hairdryer etc. Also, a really big ensuite bathroom. We didnt have a laptop, but we were welcome to use the laptop at reception-situated in a nice private corner near the reception desk (we were also able to pick up the wireless signal on our phones in the lounge/sitting room area). There was lots of parking space out front and back- and, for the small ones a swing/slide set in the garden. There was a practise putting green out front too.  Seating in front and back garden. This B&B is a perfect location if you plan to use the Greenway Cycle route- closest one in Wesport I believe. I know this review is long- but when service is as good as this, it must be shared! In a nutshell, Augusta Lodge has it nailed.

“Great place to stay.”10Augusta2011.Edmonton.

We stayed at Augusta Lodge in the fabulous town of Westport. The place is beautiful, just like its surroundings. Dave was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. He gave great advice as to what to see and do around Westport, and was very helpful with all those little extras. I would highly recommend this wonderful B&B.

“Great place to stay in Westport.”09Augusta2011. Chinrichs.

We arrived at the Augusta Lodge with no plans for the day. We checked in and Dave, the host, suggested some great places for lunch and exploring. Taking his great advice we headed to Achill Island. The drive was 100% worth the views. We got back before dinner and took a short 10 minute walk into the City Centre where a music festival was going on. The Augusta Lodge had menus on site of all the restaurants and we picked one from their list. The room was very nice and we got an excellent nights sleep. The full Irish breakfast in the morning was delicious. This is a great place to stay. Dave recommended a scenic route to Clifden on our way out. It included a stop at Croagh Patrick, the Connemara Loop, and the Kylemore Abbey. We loved his advice.

“The best B&B we have ever experienced.” 08August2011. Dublin, Ireland.

Yes it was the best B & B we have ever experienced in Ireland . The room was equivalent to a top class hotel being modern, beautifully furnished, extremely comfortable and of course the height of cleanliness. It is definitely only a ten minute walk to all the buzz of Westport and yet you can return to the calm, peace and serenity of the Augusta Lodge.Your hosts are 2 of the friendliest people you can meet with lots of Irish banter and ideas/recommendations on how to fill your day in this beautiful part of Ireland – and having said all that we are Irish having a had a great new  experience in the Augusta Lodge. Ann and Brian.

“Excellent place to stay.” 07August2011. Belfast, United Kingdom.

“Fabulous service and lovely rooms.” 05August2011. Leighton, United Kingdom.

Stayed for two days whilst travelling around the West Coast of Ireland. Stephanie and David were wonderfully welcoming hosts and the B&B and rooms (particularly the family room that slept 5) were lovely. Even a putting course at the front.

“A fantastic place to stay – beautiful property and good food – definitely be back.”05August2011. Belfast, United Kingdom.

The rooms at Augusta Lodge are spacious, well furnished and very comfortable. The food was lovely and there was plenty to eat. The property is located only a short walk from Westport House which is set in beautiful grounds and where there is plenty of entertainment for a family. A further stroll through the woods takes you to The Quays where there are bars, restaurants and views of the bay. It is also only a short walk into the lovely town of Westport where you can have a good nights craic while being entertained by traditional Irish music.

“A great place to stay in Westport.” 03August2011. Rhode Island, USA. 3 Reviews.

We stayed with Dave and Stephanie for two nights in July 2011, myself, my wife, and our daughters ages 9 and 13. We had a family room which was spacious and clean. Breakfast was wonderful both days and the location is convenient to Westport and area sights. Dave was especially understanding as we arrived close to midnight following a longer than anticipated drive from Northern Ireland. We enjoyed Westport and the surrounding area, especially a perfect afternoon on Clare’s Island. Augusta Lodge is terrific and we highly recommend it.

My family and me were in Augusta Lodge on July 2011 unfortunately for only one night. The lodge is very confortable and Dave and Stephany very kind. We were in 5 with my family with my children and we were there only a night because we were in a routing trip in Ireland. We had a very nice room with 5 useful bed and a nice bathroom inside.
The breakfast was very good also. The location is good to visit the country and is near to Achil Island that is a very nice place to see. Thank you for all.

Dave and Stephanie ensured we had a wonderful stay with lots of good advice on what to see and where to eat , drink and listen to good music. They both have,Dave in particular, a wonderful sense of humour, with spur of the moment Irish one liner jokes which had us laughing and wanting to retell them to our friends in Australia. We would have stayed longer but did not have the time.

“Great hospitality.” 19July2011. Leeds, United Kingdom.

A lovely two day stay at Augusta Lodge.Warm welcome from Dave and Stephanie.A home from home with a cosy room and a very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast with choice. Easy parking..Having previously visited Sligo and Donegall ,Augusta Lodge proved the perfect end to our holiday in Ireland and if you’re a golfer just down the road is the Championship course of Westport.G.C. This we found on our day of departure when we called in the clubhouse for morning coffee. Not only that , just a hundred yards or so from Augusta House we also found time to visit the monument marking the spot where Michael Davitt and Charles Parnell addressed a Land League meeting in1879.

“Brilliant B&B.” 17July2011. Cork, Ireland.

“A Wonderful Discovery.” 12July2011. Cavan, Ireland. 2 Reviews.

My husband, myself and four of our friends have just returned from a very enjoyable weekend in the lovely, lively town of Westport. We stayed at Augusta Lodge, situated in a quiet peaceful area, but just a short, pleasant walk to the town centre. Augusta Lodge is maintained to the highest standards, both inside and out , bedrooms were beautifully decorated and spotless, with very comfortable beds, and all necessary amenities. I was particularly impressed by the beautiful and well cared for flowers and hanging baskets adorning the exterior walls and windows! We received a very warm welcome from the proprietor, Dave, and he and Stephanie were extremely pleasant and courteous throughout our stay, going out of their way to be helpful and informative about the local area. Breakfast was superb, with servings very generous and piping hot. We have travelled as a group to many areas throughout Ireland over the years, but Westport is now definitely listed among our favourites. So much to do and see, stunningly beautiful scenery, excellent restaurants, lively pub entertainment and very friendly locals. Dave and Stephanie, thank you for making our weekend that bit more special with your wonderful hospitality. We will most definitely be back to Augusta Lodge very soon!

We stayed with Dave and Stephanie on June 10th and 11th with our 2 teenage boys. We had the family room which was very big and comfortable. They had free wifi which was a huge hit for the boys! The putting green was also a hit. Dave had great maps and directions to attractions in the area. We went to Achill Island which is a beautiful area. Great dinner suggestion of the tavern – one of the best dinners we had. Beautiful view of Croagh Patrick. Stephanie was a very friendly hostess and the breakfast was great. Thanks for a wonderful stay – we would definitely stay again.

“Enjoyed.”23June2011. Dublin, Ireland.

We stayed in Augusta Lodge 16th/17th June 2011. We enjoyed our stay. If you are interested in golf or cycling then this is an ideal location for both as the Golfcourse is close by as is the excellent Greenway (walking/cycling path) from Westport to Achill Sound. Room was fine with a big and comfortable bed. The food and welcome was very good and Dave has an excellent and most interesting array of golf Memorabilia that even the non enthusiast would enjoy. Great B&B, great location and Westport is a great town.

“They wrote the book.” 20June2011. England. 3 Reviews.

Dave is the most laid-back (and golf-mad) host you can imagine, with an easy Irish charm and very obvious insight into what makes folk feel comfortable. My son and I were looked after in great detail during our two night stay without being made to feel that the attention we got was intrusive. The place was easy to find, lots of parking, VERY clean, comfortable and the breakfast was more than enough in both quality and quantity. Good WiFi allowed a little business to be done back home. For our evenings out, Dave pointed us first at Geraghty’s pub which was ‘open-mic’ but a bit ‘Glen Cambell’, if you know what I mean. Then to Molloy’s bar which was traditional Irish music until the wee hours (behind a locked front door!) but a bit tourist-heavy, though I suppose that’s what we were after all. Matt Molloy of ‘The Chieftains’ (who owns the place) was there and involved himself in the diddly-diddly to the delight of the crowd stuffed into the small back room. We had to leave early on our check-out morning and this meant an ‘out-of-hours’ breakfast which Dave happily offered and provided without being asked first. In summary, if you want to stay in Westport, you will not regret staying at Augusta Lodge and we will return! Dave – thanks for everything.

“A great place to stay.” 18June2011. Manchester, United Kingdom.

We booked in for three nights and were made to feel very welcome by Dave and Stephanie. The room was great and the breakfasts wonderful. Heartily recommended.

“Incredible place, incredible host, incredible value.” 16June2011. Montana, USA.

We just had 4 wonderful nights at the Augusta lodge in Westport and I can not imagine staying anywhere else there. Dave was a great host and very helpful in advising us about activities, pubs, music and places to eat in the area. I hesitate to say everything that Dave helped us with because I feel like future visitors might have unrealistic expectations and be too demanding of his time but suffice it to say he went above and way beyond what I would expect from a B&B host. We had just come from the four star Park House Hotel in Galway which was quite nice but I have to say that Dave has the superior full Irish breakfast. It is an easy 10 minute stroll into downtown and it was nice and quiet being a little bit away from the city center and as a bonus you pass by the spot where Charles Parnell admonished the locals to “hold on to your homesteads.” If you take a few steps outside the front door you have a beautiful view of Croagh Patrick. I chose this place after looking extensively at trip advisor and what I saw was that Augusta Lodge was head and shoulders above the rest. I think his success is about a combination of high quality and value. I was not disappointed, in fact it has been the best place we stayed during our last 2 weeks in Ireland and I am sure we will stay here again.

“Great visit, very friendly welcome.” 14June2011. London, United Kingdom.

We stayed at the Augusta Lodge for one night in June. Our rooms were lovely and clean, and it was about a ten minute walk into Westport town centre along a sidewalk, so it is very easy to get in to the pubs and shops. You are a bit away from the busy-ness of Westport, which makes for a very quiet stay. Facilities were great, they even have a laptop you can use in the lobby for free if you want to check emails etc (also free wi-fi). Breakfast was very nice. All in all a great stay and I would highly recommend to anyone staying in Westport.

“Fantastic B&B.” 13June2011. Bettystown, Ireland.

Really enjoyed our stay at Augusta Lodge , room was lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing.

“Welcoming, friendly, but most of all made to feel at home.” 10June2011. Belfast, United Kingdom.

I cannot praise this Guest House highly enough. From the first moment I stepped across the threshold, I was welcomed and put at ease. The bedrooms were spacious, clean and well finished with all mod-cons. The breakfast choices were varied and all needs seemed to be catered for. As for the food, the portions were generous and the service and quality first class. The Hosts, Dave and Stephanie, proved to be great company with a wealth of information about the Town and its surroundings and were tireless in their efforts to enhance our stay. They provided useful and what proved to be, sound advice as to where the best eating houses were to be found in the locality as well as suggesting possible day trips. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay which I would strongly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

“Like staying with friends.” 10June2011. Nottingham, United Kingdom.

All the services, standards and comforts you expects from a quality establishment. We arrived as weary tourists, and left as friends. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, Dave and Steph, yet nothing was overpowering. Thank you.

“Feels like home.” 09June2011. New York, USA. 6 Reviews.

This fabulous B&B really feels like home. Very comfortable and easy going. The computer in the lobby is a big plus to check emails or plan were to go for the day. Dave has wonderful ideas about things to see, places to visit and the best restaurants and bars. The mini-golf is a wonderful addition especially if you are traveling with children.

“Returning Guests.” 07June2011. Cork, Ireland.

Our second time staying at this excellent B&B. The hospitality shown by our hosts , Dave and Stephanie, was first class, friendly and welcoming. The en-suite rooms are spotlessly clean, the water hot and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast is more than ample to set you up for the day. Their knowledge of local events is excellent , so you’re never short of suggestions for thing to do . Situated just outside the town center ,makes this B&B quiet and relaxing but also convenient to Westport .There is plenty of space for parking on the grounds . Highly recommended and looking forward to our next visit :)

“Lovely B&B within walking distance of Westport.” 06June2011. Dublin, Ireland. 3 Reviews.

Myself and my wife spent 2 nights in the Augusta Lodge on the June weekend 2011. This B&B is lovely and is very convenient to Westport , which is a beautifull little town. The Breakfast was great and sustained us well , untill dinner became a option later in the evening. We walked in to westport for dinner each evening and Westport House grounds are also withing walking distance from this B&B. All in all I would give my stay a 10 out of 10 rating no problem. Louis & May O’Brien.

“Excellent accommodation and very friendly hosts.” 05June2011. Buxton, United Kingdom.

My family and I only spent one night at the Augusta Lodge at the end of our trip around Ireland but it was definitely one the best places we stayed in. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed having a putt on the putting green at the front of Augusta Lodge. The friendly hosts made us feel very welcome as well as giving us helpful information on the local sights and restaurants. I would highly recommend the Augusta Lodge to anyone wanting to stay in Westport.

“This is the place to stay.” 05June2011.

Had a great stay at Augusta lodge. Lured in by the correct claim of a golf experienced place. Dave’s B&B was full of golf memorbilia and Dave himself was full of great stories. Super accomodating with our requests and needs. Rooms very comfortable and appointed and breakfast was very good. Excellant location being close to town but a bit out of it to not have city type disturbances. Westport is a good central spot to tour the area even if golf isn’t your thing. I have already sent people his way. You should too.

“Great hospitality. Good value for money.” 30May2011.Tel Aviv, Israel.

Westport is very nice town and Augusta Lodge, located just 10 min walk from the center, gives you good location for visiting all the pubs at the center without moving your car. The owner of the Lodge will provide you guidelines for local tours around the city and there are plenty of these.

“The only place to stay in Westport.” 30May2011. Kilkenny, Ireland.

A party of 12 of us stayed in Augusta Lodge last weekend when we went to Westport to do a charity climb of Croagh Patrick. This is an annual event and for some this was the 3rd time to stay in Augusta Lodge – that in itself is a recommendation! I would not consider staying anywhere else when visiting Westport. Dave and Stephanie are perfect hosts and make everyone feel at home. They are both very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean and I was very appreciative of having fresh towels left out when we arrived back for a shower in the afternoon after our climb. As there were so many of us Dave and Stephanie organised a taxi to take us into town – we could have walked except that it was raining! In fact some of us walked home on the Saturday night after a great night in the town! It only takes 10 minutes – and that’s in high heels!!! The beds are very comfortable (and huge!) and the breakfast is perfect with all the usual fare – fruit juice, cereals, tea/coffee, toast and brown bread and a breakfast cooked to each person’s own requirements. The front garden is a small pitch and putt course and provided a bit of fun for some of the party in the mornings or evenings while waiting for everyone to get ready. There is also a lovely lounge area where you are encouraged to sit down and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, watch TV or just have a chat with Stephanie or Dave. It’s a very relaxing place to stay and a real home from home!! I would have no hesitation in recommending Augusta Lodge to anyone who is visiting Westport and I certainly look forward to visiting again – only next time I think we will give Croagh Patrick a miss and just enjoy the shopping and the craic in the town instead!! Thank you Dave and Stephanie for a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you again soon!!

“Nothing’s too much trouble.” 30May2011. Cork, Ireland.

We arrived late – not a problem – key for room and front door very handy – room spacious & comfortable – family room at far end of landing so nobody passing to disturb – noise is not an issue anyway – breakfasts lovely. Our 1st trip to Westport – would use again next time no question. Very child friendly.

“Welcoming, friendly and great value.” 23May2011. Limerick, Ireland.

One of the best value B&B’s I have stayed in for a long time. We arrived on Friday, went for dinner & drinks, were back late and up early to head off up Croagh Patrick. The B&B did advise us to think again about climbing as the weather was awful, he was helpful & genuinely looking out for us, he offered us a spin into town on the Friday night and went and bought extras for our breakfast on Sunday which he knew we had wanted – shame we didn’t get up to avail of it though!
Honestly, this was one of the most friendly & genuine B&B’s I have stayed in, the value was really good and they are deffo worth a visit if you will appreciate a friendly Irish Welcome. This is the first time I have ever written a review, normally I have no reason to!

“A very comfortable and friendly B&B.”13May2011. Dublin, Ireland. 2 Reviews.

Stayed here for two nights and found it a very homely, comfortable and attractive place. A perfect place to stay if you’re a golfer – there is a putting green out front also! Had no problem with my request for an extra early breakfast on the first morning. Would definitaly like to stay here again when in Westport.

“2nd time at Augusta Lodge. Would highly recommend.” 05May2011. Chester, England.

We received a very warm welcome after a hard days cycling from Leenaun. Dave changed our room for a room with a bath as he thought we would appreciate a soak. The standard has been maintained since the last stay 5 yrs ago, I was looking forward to staying and I was not disapointed. The location is on the golf course road nice quiet setting 10 min walk into town, over a hill but not a big one. The room was very nice just decorated with a patio door to let yourself in if you wanted access direct to your room. I have to say the breakfast was fantastic. Would highly recommend a stay.

“Great location, peaceful at night-time, only 10 minutes walk to town.” 30April2011. Dublin, Ireland.

Really enjoyed my stay. Haven’t stayed in B&B for years , decided to try Augusta Lodge in lieu of a hotel. I Find hotels too noisy and too much messing goes on at night time. My sister and I shared a large double room and had a double bed each, had a great night sleep and lay in next morning after a great time in the the local pubs and bars. Dave & Stephanie were very hospitable and very informative on what to do and see in the area. Breakfast menu had plenty to suit all. Rooms were very clean and cosy. Very traditional Irish home feeling. Stayed two nights and Dave was kind to drop us to the town for dinner as we were in high heels ! My friends stayed in a hotel in the town which was 20 euro more each per night ,and didnt include breakfast, so we definitely got better value all round. I will be back again with my husband very soon. Loved Westport. From a well travelled Dublin girl.

I booked this B&B based on TA reviews. I booked our room on their website. We enjoyed one night here on our 16 day trip. We checked into our room around 4:30pm. We were received by Stephanie, who showed us to our room (room 4). After settling in and making our way to town, she recommended walking into town. It was an easy 10 minute walk. She also recommended eating at The West Bar and then going to Matt Molloy’s. We followed here advice and had a nice meal and a great trad session at Molloy’s. It was my favorite band from the trip. We also got locked in to the bar. Our room was pretty roomy compared to other places we stayed. We could both walk around the bed without having to squeeze by and we had plenty of space for our bags. The bathroom was smaller, but the shower pressure was super strong. No problems rinsing out shampoo here! Which reminds me, why don’t they use conditioner in Ireland? It wasn’t offered at any of our B&B’s or hotels. I had to use my 4 ounces sparingly over 16 days so I wouldn’t run out. It was super quiet at night and the bed was comfy. We had a great night sleep. I assumed we were the only guests in the B&B that night, but there were 3 other people at breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was pretty decent. I had poached eggs and the hubby had bacon and eggs. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to friends and family.

We three senior Canadians were most pleased with our stay with Dave and Stephanie at their very comfortable lodge. The host and hostess went out of their way to help us plan our activities and suggest interesting side trips while in the area. Our room was comfortable and breakfast was outstanding. Golfers will particularly appreciate Dave’s passion for the game and his knowledge of local courses.

Was in Westport for a weekend of hiking. Augusta Lodge provided perfect accommodation – quiet, charming and relaxing, a short stroll into the town centre, and run by brilliant, friendly hosts. Definitely recommend staying here, and will do again myself next time I am in Westport.

“Excellent value for money.”21April. Tipperary, Ireland.

Rooms have all amenities you need, beds are very comfy, service is attentive without being too over-the-top, great breakfast and it’s close enough to walk into Westport. What more do you need?!
